Breads Unlimited

The history of Breads Unlimited begins on Georgia Avenue in Washington DC when in 1949 George Raab bought the New Yorker Bakery. The New Yorker Bakery was an icon in Washington DC in the 1930’s and 1940’s and Raab was determined to continue its rich tradition of old fashioned pastries, breads and treats.

The New Yorker staff was joined by Steve Raab, George’s son, in 1965 and continued to operated as a Washington DC landmark until the 1980’s. Expanding the business in 1981, Steve opened Breads Unlimited in Bethesda, Maryland operating with the same recipes and sense of tradition that made the New Yorker Bakery a hit with Washingtonians.

Breads Unlimited has continued its dedication to its loyal customers by expanding to offer wholesale baked goods which can be found in many restaurants, grocery stores, deli’s and coffee shops in the Washington DC area.

Bradley’s Barber Shop

Bradley’s Barber Shop is primarily known for kid’s haircuts, however, the barbers here can cut anyone’s hair. Bradley’s offers shaves for men, $14 haircuts for children and highlights and other styling options for women. Owner Nick Kaldis has been working in the hair styling business for over 20 years.

In 1973, Albert Voorthuis opened the first Voorthuis Opticians on 1712 Eye Street, NW in Washington, DC with a vision to change the way Washington sees eye care. With a focus on customer service, emphasis on superior quality and offering a greater choice in high-end eyewear as the foundation, Voorthuis went against the conventional wisdom of offering customers a limited number of frames from which to choose, and began offering hundreds of frames representing signature brands from around the world that, in some cases, had never been offered in the United States, let alone in Washington, DC.

As we’ve grown over the last 40 years, we have evolved from a one-location optical store to a seven-location optometry and optical practice. Through it all, however, our vision and philosophy has remained unchanged.

We offer a comprehensive approach to eye care by performing eye and contact lens examinations by our highly qualified optometrists.
